Cyclone Yasi was one of the biggest cyclones in Australia's history. This cyclone was a Category 5 cyclone and winds blew up to 285 kilometres per hour. Cyclone Yasi originated from a tropical low near Fiji. Cyclone Yasi was a very powerful and destructive tropical cyclone that occurred in northern Queensland, Australia on the 3rd of February, 2011, causing severe damage to Cairns and Townsville. Thousands of homes, buildings and infrastructure were damaged or destroyed. The eye of any cyclone is on average around 40km in diameter however cyclone Yasi's eye measured to around 100km.
